Today we got in what looks to be an interesting spin on trading card games.  Warball has all the things one might expect from a battle card game: Cards with great artwork, interesting creatures, several factions with unique powers, starter decks and booster packs, etc.  What you might not expect is the addition of special "Warballs" which you use to combat your enemy.

With the inclusion of these Warballs, the game introduces an element of manual dexterity to go along with the usual mental strategy involved in a battle card game.  Different Warballs have different criteria that must be met before they can be used in battle, and some even have specific instructions on how they must be used, such as requiring you to flick the ball or kick it onto the playing field.

To get a better idea of how one plays the game, check out this video from the manufacturer, Duncan Toys:

That is the final video from Duncan that shows a player's turn in its entirity.  If you'd like to see more videos for a full introduction to the game and its rules, see the rest in this series of videos at the official site: http://www.warballs.com/how-to-play/chapter1.html

I never was into playing with marbles, but the strategic twist you get with the card game/marble game combination makes the game look like it could be a ton of fun.  Plus, the Battle Box contains everything 2-players need to play and is only $25 retail (or get it for $19.24 from World at Play Games!) which gives the game a fairly low cost of entry compared to many other collectable games.  Plus you can't deny that some of the marbles just look cool, especially the "Savage" Warballs, which have a monster enclosed inside of the Warball.

So, if you like marbles, or you're interested in trading card games but want a little more, give Warballs a shot!
